An eleven-year-old from Warsaw was one of eight who got to participate in the Riley Coin Toss at a Colts game.
The Riley Children’s Foundation says Drake Price is a “Riley Champion” after he was in the hospital earlier this year for treatment of a brain tumor and stroke.
During Price’s 13-hour surgery, his family gave live updates to teachers, friends and family via emails, texts and the #DrakeStrong Facebook page.
His stroke required intensive inpatient rehabilitation to relearn how to walk, talk and return back to normal function.
Price was named an honorary member of the Warsaw Police Department and received a police escort home from Riley Hospital.
Those deemed “Riley Champions” are part of a Kroger-sponsored program that honors patients from Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health who have inspired communities with their bravery and commitment to help others despite overcoming medical challenges.
Price will be honored again at the Riley Children’s Foundation Annual Luncheon on November 17.
