2-year-old Plymouth girl was beaten for wetting the bed hours before being taken to the hospital, court documents say

New information released in the case of a 2-year-old Plymouth girl who died this past weekend after prosecutors say she was beaten by her mother’s boyfriend. Marshall County Prosecutor Nelson Chipman says the girl's cause of death was damage to her brain. Serenity Wilson died Saturday, one day after the beating, allegedly at the hands of 23 year-old Shane Weedling, who is the toddler's mother's boyfriend. He says Serenity was beaten after she wet the bed. Then, was left unconscious, and NOT taken to the hospital until hours after the beating. The girl's mother, Krysti Lavanway, told police that Weedling began sending her Facebook messages at 10:20, Friday morning, telling her that he would continue beating the child until she came home. Lavanway got home shortly before noon, but didn’t take Serenity to the hospital right away because Weedling told her that he would be arrested. Both the mother and the boyfriend are charged in connection with the girl's death.
