County re-establishes burn ban amid drought conditions

News Release

WARSAW — Kosciusko County has established a burn ban for the second time in a matter of weeks because of dry conditions.

The local ban seeks to limit the use of campfires, burn barrels, open burning and fireworks with exceptions.

A resolution approved by the county commissioners on Tuesday said the county is at risk of widespread fire hazards as a result of the dry conditions.

The resolution points out that part of Kosciusko County is now considered to be in a severe drought.

Kosciusko County Fireman’s Association requested the county establish the ban.

The county established a burn ban on Sept. 19 because of dry conditions. That ban was rescinded after a few days.
