North Webster man, 44, dies after pickup strikes tree

PIERCETON — A North Webster man died in a single-vehicle accident Monday morning along Old Road 30 in eastern Kosciusko County.

Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Deputies and emergency personnel responded to reports of the accident at 7:54 a.m., on Old Road 30, east of Old Trail Road, according to a news release from the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office.

The accident involved a 2002 Chevy Silverado pick-up truck pulling an enclosed trailer and  driven by Christopher L. Rinehart, 44, North Webster,

Authorities believe Rinehart was traveling west on Old Road 30 and was driving through a curve in the road when the vehicle left the north side of the roadway, came back on the road and then proceeded across the eastbound lanes. The vehicle continued down a ditch on the south side of the road before striking a tree.

Rinehart was pronounced dead at the scene by the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

The Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Pierceton
Fire Department, North Webster EMS, Lutheran EMS, Crouse Wrecker Service,
and the Kosciusko County Coroner’s Office.

The crash remains under investigation.
