WARSAW — Kosciusko County officials received an update this week on efforts to attract new industry. While the details are limited, the overall impact could be dramatic.
Peggy Friday, executive director for Kosciusko County Economic Development Corporation, said two companies are looking at locating in the county and would bring upward of 1,800 jobs.
Such a move would represent the biggest news in economic development in Kosciusko County in memorable history.
On top of that, another company is expressing interest, she said.
She said she was optimistic that exciting news is on the horizon.
“We’re all working together, all pulling in the same direction. That’s how success in projects land in communities,” Friday said. “They’re looking for towns and cities that are collaborative and make development easy.”
Details are limited because all of the parties have signed agreements preventing them from talking publically.
Friday said that the county and other entities are negotiating with the company on incentives to attract businesses
“What I can tell you is the economic development in Kosciusko County is strong,” she said. “We’re right in prime for a lot of growth and development.”
She said it could be a few months before anything is announced.
Friday declined to say whether the old R.R. Donnelley property is part of the negotiations.
The Donnelly property is the largest vacant industrial property in the county and sits along a set of railroad tracks.
