INDIANAPOLIS – Early voting is now open to Hoosiers for the primary election.
Early in-person voting continues through May 2 at noon, according to a press release from the Office of the Indiana Secretary of State.
Indiana Secretary of State Connie Lawson says casting your ballot to avoid the rush is easy.
“Registered voters can go to their county clerk’s office with a valid, government-issued photo ID to vote early,” Lawson said. “Voters do not need a reason to vote early, simply show up and cast your ballot.”
Almost 30 counties in Indiana have now adopted the vote center model. Many of these counties have alternative early voting locations. Hoosiers who live in a vote center county should check with their county clerk for additional early voting options, the release states.
Before heading to the polls, Hoosier voters can go to www.indianavoters.com or use the Indiana Voters app on their smart phone to look up which candidates will be on their ballot. Voters enter their county of residence, name and date of birth. “Who’s On Your Ballot?” will list the offices, candidates’ names and party just as it will be listed on Election Day.
Registered voters also can start voting absentee by mail.
Voter registration is now closed for the May 3 primary, but you can still get registered for the Nov. 8 general election at IndianaVoters.com or by using the Indiana Voters app.
Polls are open 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. local time May 3 for the primary election.
Voters with questions can call the Hoosier Voter Hotline at 866-IN-1-VOTE.
