The Pierceton Fire Department responded to a house fire at 5754 S. Woodland Lane, Pierceton, at 12:15 p.m. Thursday. Pierceton Fire Captain Nathan Rhoades deemed the home, belonging to Ashley Ward, a total loss but said there were no injures. He said the fire started at the south end of the home and spread to the attic. Winona Lake Fire Department and Sidney Fire Department assisted. Rhoades said with the help of approximately 20 men, they worked for four hours to extinguish the fire.
