WARSAW — Kosciusko County Council approved plans to create a new position for a garage mechanic that will be shared by the Kosciusko County Highway Department and the County Sheriff’s office.
Sheriff Jim Smith, who oversees a fleet of 75 vehicles, expressed confidence that the new arrangement will save the county money.
“Quite frankly, I’m surprised this hasn’t been done many years ago,” Smith said.
The plan was approved unanimously by the county council on Thursday night.
