Indiana Conservation officers say the body of a Chicago man who vanished in Lake Michigan while trying to rescue two women has been recovered in waters off the lake's southern shoreline. The South Bend Tribune reports 29-year-old Ronald Wood Jr.'s body was found about one mile off shore of Central Beach in northwestern Indiana's Porter County. The Chicago man had vanished May 31 in the waters near Mount Baldy in Michigan City. Authorities say Wood and others aboard his 33-foot boat jumped into the lake to rescue two women who had been on the boat but went swimming in the lake. The boat drifted away and the lone person still aboard couldn't start it. The two women and everyone except Wood made it safely back to shore.
