An Indiana sheriff’s deputy is dead after his patrol car crashed on Saturday night while he was on duty. According to information provided by Indiana State Police, 31-year old Jacob Calvin, a resident of Kempton and a Tipton County Deputy, died when his patrol car spun out of control while he was traveling at a high rate of speed on a rural road. The car rolled several times, ejecting Calvin from the vehicle. The deputy died at a hospital later from injuries sustained in the incident. Initial investigations say its not clear what caused the deputy to lose control of the cruiser. Police say he was not wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash. According to WNDU, Deputy Calvin was reportedly responding to an automobile crash at the time.
