A Michigan man was walking his dog yesterday morning when he found a newborn baby girl abandoned on a dirt road. According to WNDU, the man's name is Jeff Kopp and he told The Grand Rapids Press and WOOD-TV he thought the dog was sniffing a rabbit at about 10:30 am Monday in White Cloud, Michigan about 40 miles north of Grand Rapids. Kopp told the TV station that he started yelling when the unclothed baby moved. His wife and daughter held her until police arrived. Newaygo County Sheriff's Lt. Chad Palmiter says the baby had some scrapes and may have been there for six hours. He says child protective services may petition for custody. The mother is described as a teenager who lives across from where the newborn was found. Palmiter says she and the child are in good condition at the hospital.
