FORT WAYNE – This month, Parkview Trauma Centers is teaming up with the Indiana State Police and Evans Toyota to host two free community seminars aimed at teaching people the importance of not driving distracted. Attendees will have the opportunity to hear the story of Chandler Gerber, who was involved in a fatal crash while driving distracted, as well as learn about the laws governing driving behavior and receive helpful information about becoming a better driver. All attendees will also be entered to win great door prizes, including a total car detail.
“These seminars are intended to inform new and experienced drivers alike of the dangers of driving while distracted,” said Lisa Hollister, Director, Trauma and Acute Care Surgery, Parkview Trauma Centers. “We want to encourage motorists to be mindful of distractions while on the roadways in hopes of preventing the life-threatening injuries we see every day.”
According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, drivers are 23 times more likely to crash if texting behind the wheel.
