A stiff sentence has been handed down to a man who prosecutors say stole money from his niece's piggy bank to feed his drug habit. David Monroe of Niles will spend 180 days in prison and 15 months probation for the $30 theft. He also got a tongue-lashing from the judge who said Monroe let his addiction rob the 7 year-old girl of money. Monroe admitted he acted selfishly and betrayed his niece's trust. The Niles Daily Star reports the judge then told him to grow a backbone and get over his addiction.
