A federal judge has ruled that Indiana must recognize same-sex marriages performed outside of the state. The ruling, handed down Tuesday, said it is unconstitutional for Indiana to deny married status to gay and lesbian couples who were legally married in other states. The ruling has been stayed, however, which means it will not be enforced until the U.S. Court of Appeals rules on Indiana’s same-sex marriage case. Arguments in that case are set for next week.
