A Warsaw teen is facing charges after police say he hit a man with his truck.
Daven Paul Gasaway, 19, of Warsaw, was charged with one count of battery with a deadly weapon, a level 5 felony; criminal recklessness, a level 6 felony; battery, a level 6 felony; and leaving the scene of a personal injury accident, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to a probable cause affidavit from the Kosciusko’s County Prosecutor’s Office, police responded to The Church of Jesus Christ on September 5 after a report of man being run over in the parking lot.
A Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department officer met with a woman at an area hospital who claimed her ex-boyfriend, Gasaway, came to her residence and accused her of stealing his motorcycle. The victim told police that Gasaway allegedly began to follow her, then hit her vehicle window with a baseball bat.
The woman told police that she received a call from another man wanting her to pick him up at the church parking lot. When she arrived, she told police she saw Gasaway driving circles around the man’s vehicle.
The man said Gasaway was circling his vehicle in a GMC truck, while swinging a baseball bat outside the window. The male said when he exited his vehicle to try and stop Gasaway, he was allegedly struck by Gasaway’s truck.
The officer reported the man had severe cuts on his left leg and inner calf, including a cut on the right foot, and a cut about 5 to 6 inches from the hip to the knee.
Gasaway was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Friday night. He is being held on a $10,250 bond.
