Felony charges are being sought for a 23-year-old Kingsford Heights woman after Walmart customers witnessed her abusing her 5-year-old daughter. LaPorte Police were called to the store on Wednesday afternoon where several shoppers say they heard the child screaming and witnessed the mother excessively dragging, pushing, yanking and slapping the child. One witness told police they saw the mother punch the child in the head and another said they saw her push the child down and then push a cart into her. The mother told police her daughter began to throw a temper tantrum when she was unable to purchase a doll she wanted. When the child wouldn't quiet down, the mother told police she did swat the child on the buttocks and tried a second time, but missed and ended up striking her in the head. Store surveillence video is being reviewed and the case is being sent to the prosecutor who will decide on possible charges.
