Lt. Gov. Sue Ellspermann is promoting six “Shovel Ready Sites'' across Indiana that have been deemed ready for economic development. Ellspermann announced Tuesday that the Office of Community and Rural Affairs had picked sites in Benton, Elkhart, Hancock, Marshall, Owen and Steuben Counties for development. The state determines if a site is ready for development based on whether local government is already supportive of development, has enough utility capacity, among other criteria. Ellspermann is planning kickoff events at each site through the rest of November.
