The discovery of a dead newborn in a wooded area of an Indianapolis park is bringing new attention to Indiana's safe haven law. The law allows people to anonymously give up custody of babies less than 30 days old by dropping them off at emergency rooms or police or fire stations. A hiker in Eagle Creek Park found the newborn girl Sunday afternoon. Investigators say the baby was perhaps a day old and was found wrapped in a blue sweatshirt with a logo saying “Aviation Maintenance Vincennes University-Indianapolis.”
