One semi driver killed, another injured in fiery crash on Indiana Toll Road

One semi driver was killed and another was injured in a fiery crash involving three big rigs on the Indiana Toll Road.

The collision happened shortly after 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 21 in the eastbound lanes near the 112 mile marker, according to Indiana State Police.

The crash happened when a disabled semi that was stopped on the shoulder was struck by another tractor-tanker. The semi tanker then collided with another east bound semi tractor-trailer forcing both trucks into the center median, state police reported.

The semi tanker caught fire after the collision and the crash caused both east and west bound lanes of the toll road to come to a standstill in the area, state police reported.

The driver of the semi tractor-tanker was pronounced dead at the scene. Another driver involved in the crash was taken to a local hospital for his injuries.

Five hours after the crash, traffic on the toll road was still restricted to a single lane in both directions.
