An Indiana senator has introduced a bill that would raise the minimum wage from $7.25 per hour to $10.10, an increase of almost $3. Senate Bill 41, authored by Democratic Senator Karen Tallian of Portage has been referred to the Committee on Pensions & Labor for additional review and hearing. Democrats in the state legislature say the increase would help working-class families, but Republicans think the increase is unnecessary given the state’s cost of living. Indiana is one of a handful of states where the minimum wage is the same as the federal rate.
