A Syracuse man has been booked into the Kosciusko County Jail for attempting to strangle his fiancée.
Todd Robert Valentine, 40, of Syracuse, was arrested November 29, 2016 at 1:22 am on felony charges of strangulation and domestic battery with moderate bodily injury.
According to the affidavit of probable cause from the Kosciusko County Prosecutor’s Office, the Syracuse Police Department responded to a domestic battery call in Syracuse on November 11. Upon arrival, an officer spoke with a female victim who told him on November 7, she and her fiancé, Todd Valentine, were arguing when he shoved her off the toilet. The shove caused her to fall and break the wall, leaving a bleeding scratch on her back from a nail in the wall. The victim told the officer Valentine then allegdely put both his hands around her neck and squeezed to the point where she could not breathe and passed out.
The officer inspected the bathroom where the assault took place and observed the damaged wall, blood on the carpet, blood on the shower curtain and a bloody towel. The officer took pictures of the victim’s bruises under her eyes and behind both ears. She also had broken blood vessels in each eye.
According to courthouse documents, Valentine has charges pending in Kosciusko County for intimidation, battery with a deadly weapon, battery against a public safety official and resisting law enforcement.
He is being held in the Kosciusko County Jail on a $25,250 bond.
