A Hamlet man is in big trouble with police after being shot by his child. Police say 35 year-old David Paulson was shot by his 4 year-old child, who found a 40 caliber handgun in the backseat of his car and then pulled the trigger, hitting Paulson in the arm. According to court documents, Paulson first lied to police claiming to have shot himself, but later admitted it was reckless to leave the gun where his child could get it. He faces charges of Neglect of a Dependent, as well as criminal recklessness and false informing charges. He's bonded out of jail.
