State veterinary leaders say dog owners should consider giving their canines the flu vaccine. The Indiana State Board of Animal Health said Tuesday that a large number of canine influenza cases have recently been reported in the Chicago area. Canine influenza is a highly contagious disease that spreads easily among dogs. Officials say owners who travel with their pets to infected areas or take them to places where many dogs congregate, such as dog parks or kennels, should consider vaccinations.
