More toys are needed for the consignment sale, which will benefit the Combined Community Services Toy Give Away.
Consigners can drop off their toys at the Home & Family Arts building, Kosciusko County fairgrounds, until 9 p.m. today and then 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. “We’re here regardless of weather,” said organizer Ami Pitt.
The toy consignment sale will take place from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday.
Volunteers will price the toys, with consignors receiving 50 percent of the sale price. The other 50 percent will be used to purchase new toys for the CCS Toy Give Away Dec. 20 and 21 at the fairgrounds.
Consignors who donate their 50 percent to the giveaway will be able to shop the sale at 6 p.m. Friday. Consignors who keep their half will shop at 7:30 p.m. Friday, according to Pitt.
American Bikers Aimed Toward Education and Toys For Tots also provide toys for the CCS Give Away, Pitt said.
“Our No. 1 goal is to tell everyone about Jesus,” she said. Donations of new and used Bibles are being accepted as well to give to families at the giveaway.
She said each year they provide a Christmas for about 800 families, or about 2,400 kids. “The toy giveaway is (CCS’s),” Pitt said. “We invented the toy sale to help buy new toys.”
As of 1 p.m. Tuesday, she said they only had about 3,000 toys brought in. By the end of Thursday in past years, the consignment sale usually averages about 12,000 “which includes every item that comes in,” Pitt said. In 2015, 11,500 toys were brought in.
This is the 23rd year for the toy consignment sale. For more information, call Pitt at 574-265-4179.
