Lakeland Christian Academy is setting the record straight on their value of education.
LCA’s Director of Development Scott Wiley issued the following information this morning in response to the state’s grades:
The score that Lakeland received from the State of Indiana’s Department of Education does not accurately represent the high caliber of our academics and our incredible student/college enrollment percentage.
Since we are accredited through the Association of Christian Schools International and the North Central Association Commission on Accreditation and School Improvement instead of the State of Indiana. The grade given is not reflective of LCA’s academic standards.
When looking at statistics that do match up with local schools you will find that Lakeland Christian Academy excels in these areas. For example: ISTEP scores.
10th Grade ISTEP+ percent passed English (State average 32.2%)
1. Lakeland Christian Academy 90.0%
2. WCHS 62.3%
3. Whitko 56.6%
4. TVHS 48.0%
5. Wawasee 38.6%
10th Grade ISTEP+percent passed Math (State average 34.6%)
1. Lakeland Christian Academy 36.7%
2. WCHS 35.0%
3. Wawasee 33.2%
4. Whitko 26.4%
5. TVHS 17.1%%
Lakeland Christian Academy is ranked number one in the area in both 10th Grade English and Math ISTEP scores. (See attached report) In fact in high school English the state average is 32.2% and we are at 90%.
The percentage of our students advancing to college in 2015 was 100% and in 2016 all but one student went on to college as that student chose to go into their successful family business this year instead of going right into college.
It is because of the high caliber Christian education that is provided by Lakeland Christian Academy that our enrollment is 150% of what it was just a few years ago. We work very hard to provide an exceptional college preparatory education. Our administration is working with the IDOE to determine the cause of this discrepancy.
