Authorities in Silver Lake are hoping to make a stretch of road where a four year-old child was struck and killed a bit safer. They've contacted INDOT and have requested lowering the speed limit on State Road 15 from 40 miles per hour, to 30 miles per hour, near Sand's Mini Mart where the child was killed. The accident, which happened in June, claimed the life of Logan Heeter of Claypool. Authorities say he attempted to cross the street, but entered the path of a flatbed truck. The driver attempted to brake and swerve but could not avoid striking the little boy.
