A Claypool man is facing charges of strangulation and domestic battery after police say he assaulted a woman and damaged her mother’s car.
Jeffery Allen Brown, 32, of 3535 E. CR 900S, Claypool, is facing one charge of strangulation, a level 6 felony; one charge of domestic battery, a level 6 felony; and two counts of criminal mischief, class B misdemeanors.
Brown’s domestic battery charge is enhanced to a felony due a prior domestic battery conviction with the same victim.
According to court records, on?Feb. 1 Brown was driving the victim in her mother’s car.? Police allege Brown was yelling at the victim, who then asked him to stop the car.
Police allege Brown stopped the car and then grabbed her by the collar of her shirt making it hard for her to breathe. He then grabbed her arm and shoulder to prevent her from leaving and then broke the gear shift on the car to prevent the car from moving.
Brown was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail Friday afternoon. He has since been released.
