For the second weekend in a row, Elkhart Police are trying to solve a homicide.
This time, 56-year-old Quinncy Jackson was found dead behind a home in the 300 block of 5th Street at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday, according to ABC 57.
Investigators spent much of the afternoon and evening investigating around the home. An official autopsy will be done on Monday, but police do believe Jackson died from a gunshot wound.
It’s possible Jackson may have been dead for a few days, as a witness told ABC 57 that she had smelled an unusual odor for a few days, but thought it was something else.
Jackson’s death is the second homicide not just in the past week, but the second homicide for the entire year for the city of Elkhart. Jackson’s death follows 20-year-old Jared Foltz’s murder in the Elkhart Menard’s parking lot last Sunday.
