A date is set for the second phase of the Husky Trail project to begin. Warsaw City Planner Jeremy Skinner announced Monday the start date for Phase II will be July 28.
Skinner says all that remains to be finished of Phase I is concrete work, getting decorative lights operational, and putting a top coat down on the roundabout.
Phase II will enact a hard barrier at North Pointe so traffic will not be able to get through. It will also close Glad Street to through traffic.
Access to the school and to businesses on Mariners Drive will be available through the roundabout. Residents who are affected by Phase II will continue to use the current detour.
Additional details on the project detours is listed on this map, provided by the city:
Warsaw Mayor Joe Thallemer and City of Warsaw Traffic Safety Commissioner Kip Shuter urge the public to take in slow in construction areas, and to follow all signage.
Shuter is also reminding drivers of the following roundabout rules:
- Yield to traffic already inside of the roundabout
- Use turn signal when exiting roundabout
- Be aware of crosswalks in the roundabout– pedestrians have the right of way
- Yielding to large vehicles in the roundabout is state law
The end date for the Husky Trail project remains October 20.
