Indiana Dunes State Park is open and ready for visitors despite some confusion with the closure of nearby Mount Baldy. The popular sand dune is part of Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. Mount Baldy, its parking lot, trail and beach in front of the dune are still closed while the National Park Service continues to investigate holes and depressions that have been found on top of the dune. Last summer, a six-year-old Illinois boy fell into one of the holes and was trapped there for several hours.
