Yesterday we brought you the story about a woman who was killed early Sunday morning sticking her head out of a van window. Today we have more details on the story. According to WNDU, St. Joseph Police have filed formal charges against 23 year old Kyle Papa, the driver of the vehicle. After leaving a party early Sunday morning, Papa decided to drive 24 year old Amanda Ezra’s van with 3 other people in it. On the way home, Ezra was reportedly sticking her head out the window vomiting when Papa veered over a curb and drove in between a utility pole and the wiring holding it up, causing Ezra to hit her head on the wire and then the van. Police say Papa initially fled the scene of the crash but was caught up to by police later Sunday morning. Papa has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident after operating while intoxicated, causing serious bodily injury, a Class B felony; Operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, resulting in death of another person, a Class C felony; Possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.;Operator never licensed, a Class C misdemeanor and possession of marijuana with a prior conviction for possession of marijuana, a Class D felony. Bond has been set at $50,000. As of Monday evening, Papa remained in the custody of the St. Joseph County Jail.
