The very latest on the South Bend woman that stole a truck on Wednesday and fired shots at police officers as it appears she stole the vehicle to buy cocaine. According to court documents 24 year old Carla Merriweather says she stole the vehicle to buy crack cocaine and then while using the drugs she thought she saw a drug dealer following behind her so she opened fire. The vehicle belonged to a retired police officer and it was a gun she found in the center console that was used in the crime. A chase ensued shortly after those shots fired. Documents also show she fired again at officers before they returned fire and she stopped. SWAT had to be called to arrest Merriweather and clear the scene.
