A lawsuit has been filed in District Court by an Amish family in Shipshewana. Lawsuits are a rare occurence in their religion, but Loren and Eva Schlabach have made the decision in an attempt to find some justice. They lost a son when their horse-drawn buggy was struck by a semi at an S-Curve on State Road 120 in July of 2012. LaGrange County Sherrifs originally said the buggy was at fault, but later revised that statement. Their findings suggested that the semi was attempting to pass Eva and her children in a no passing zone. Eva and her two young daughters were injured in the crash, but her 7 month-old son Jaedon was killed. The truck driver has requested a jury trial and is pleading not guilty. Charges are still pending.
