Elkhart's Mayor is speaking out about the case of an officer beating which happened on Garfield Avenue in July… and the reaction of members of the community roundtable that occurred afterward. Moore was quick to condemn some of the language used by police that was caught on video tape… and he critiqued many of the Roundtable proposals, including a sugestion to purchase vest cams, at a cost of $40,000 and says it would be good for officers and the community. He was also critical of comparisons of Elkhart to Ferguson, Missouri, where a young man was shot to death by police, leading to more than a week of protests and violence. His comments come weeks after tensions rose after an Elkhart police officer was attacked, Neighbors contend they saw an immediate spike in patrols that brought with it claims of harassment.
