Police recovered a 10-year-old child after he was able to open the child-proof locks and exit his residence early Saturday morning. According to a Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department incident report, police responded to the report of a missing child just after 7 a.m. Saturday. Police were told the boy was 10 years old, autistic and wearing only a diaper. While investigating, an officer observed the boy walking on the west side of Turkey Creek Road near the intersection of Woodys Lane in Cromwell. The child, who is nonverbal, appeared slightly dirty and sweaty. The officer walked the child to his patrol vehicle and gave him water while Turkey Creek Fire Territory EMS responded to the scene. According to the incident report, the child’s father said the boy woke up Saturday morning around 3 a.m. and the father laid down with the boy around 6:15 a.m. The father then noticed the boy was missing at 7:15 a.m. The father told police it appeared the boy had opened the child-proof locks and exited the residence. The boy was released to his parents.
