An off road vehicle crash that happened Friday night is under investigation in Mentone.
Indiana Conservation Officers say a 15-year-old and 16-year-old, both males from Fort Wayne, were injured in the incident.
Initial investigation reveals the two were on the same ORV when the operator lost control near a private pond embankment. The vehicle rolled over and became submerged in the pond.
The property’s owner called 911 after his son told him about the accident.
The ORV operator swam to safety and had only minor injuries, but the passenger had to be located in the pond by the property owner. Both teens were taken to Kosciusko Community Hospital for injury treatment, but the passenger had to be flown by air ambulance to Parkview Hospital in Fort Wayne.
Officers say safety harnesses seem to have been in use at the time of the crash, but neither teen was wearing a helmet.
