The University of Notre Dame is adding a school of global affairs, the first new school or college at the university since 1921. Notre Dame announced Wednesday the program will be named the Donald Keough School of Global Affairs after a donation of $50 million from Donald and Marilyn Keough to build Jenkins Hall, where the school will be housed. The building is named after the Rev. John Jenkins, who's been Notre Dame's president since 2005. Jenkins says the school of global affairs will prepare students to solve world problems, such as threats to security and human dignity from crushing poverty and underdevelopment, corruption, civil wars and human rights violations. Construction will begin in the spring. The school is expected to open in August 2017.
