A Warsaw Community Schools employee was fired Monday after district personnel discovered that he had allegedly received kickback payments over a number of years. According to a press release sent to all school employees Monday night, and obtained by 1480 News Now, Greg Schroeder, Director of Buildings and Grounds for WCS, received unlawful kickback payments from a supplier of materials in exchange for steering business to that particular supplier. Upon learning of this information, school officials conducted an investigation and confronted Schroeder, who later admitted to the wrong-doing. Schroeder admitted that a Continental Maintenance Specialties sales representative paid him a total of approximately $30,000 in kick back payments. In the release, Superintendent David Hoffert stated that the news 'greatly saddened' him and out of respect for those involved, no additional statement or information would be released. Schroeder was officially terminated on Monday, and district officials have notified legal authorities.
