Warsaw City Council Tuesday approved salary ordinances for 2015 on first reading.
The second reading will be at Monday’s council meeting.
The council approved bi-weekly salaries of aviation manager, $1,742.24; building department engineer, $4,230; cemetery sexton, $1,924.30; deputy clerk treasurer, $1,756.85; human resources director, $2,007.77; mayor’s assistant, $1,645.70; parks and recreation superintendent, $2,208.58; city planner, $2,279.53; police chief, $2,255.07; street superintendent, $2,456.62; and stormwater utility manager, $2,543.58.
The fire chief’s salary was approved at $2,255.07 bi-weekly, and mayor’s salary at $2,523.64 and clerk-treasurer at $2,151.30.
The council approved an ordinance to transfer $1,850 from human resources salary into mayor salary; $120 from human resources FICA into mayor FICA; $1,700 from council salary into mayor salary; $60 from council FICA into mayor FICA; $65 from council FICA into mayor cell phone; and $870 from council insurance into mayor health insurance.
The council approved an ordinance for the 2015 budget. The general fund was approved at $10,707,559.
Elaine Call, councilwoman, voted against the budget because she did not support using a bond issue to purchase street department equipment.
In other business, Michelle Ledrew, owner of Glam, attended the meeting to inform the council a grand opening for her boutique that sells women’s accessories and clothing will be Nov. 6 at 5:30 p.m. at 212 S. Buffalo St., Warsaw. The business is across from Giverny Fitness Studio in the former Dennie House.
