On Friday the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department began field testing body cameras for possible implementation.
The Sheriff’s Department had completed testing in the past and found the technology was not advanced enough at the time to implement in its environment, according to a news release. It is now looking at a phased-in implementation over the next few years to put body cameras in place.
The department is testing the Axon Body Camera System and the Digital Ally Body Camera System to complement its in-car video systems.
The Sheriff’s Department is hoping to have the testing completed this month with a possibility of implementation of the first cameras in May.
