Another pair of aggressive phone scams are being reported in the area, just in time for the holidays. Dreama Jensen with the Better Business Bureau says residents are getting calls from a fake police officer claiming his name is Zachary Smith. According to Jensen, he then claims that you owe the government money and if you don't pay that money immediately, you'll have a warrant out for your arrest. There's another fake caller who claims to be from the U.S. Treasury. Jensen says they claim you need to make a payment using Western Union or a Green Dot Card immediately. Jensen insists that the U.S. Treasury would not ask for payment in these forms. One elderly victim in South Bend was reportedly frightened out of more than $2,000.
