It was a bizarre arrest of a woman in Elkhart County, Friday. Investigators say 20 year-old Kelly Smith of Bristol fled the scene of two crashes, stole a car, then crashed that car while attempting to get away from police. The first crash took place at Beardsley and Edwardsburg Avenue. Police say Smith took off, then ran a red light at Beardsley and Johnson, causing a second collision. It was there, things got crazy. Police say she got out of her car, then began approaching other cars passing by the area. A good Samaritan stopped to help and she jumped into the driver's seat of that person's car and took off, leading police to County Road 8 where she crashed again. She's in the Elkhart County Jail, being held without bond.
