The Fort Wayne Komets now know when they’ll start the 2018 Kelly Cup Playoffs… they just don’t know who they’ll be playing against yet.
The team has announced that the first two home playoff games are set for Saturday, April 14th at 7:30pm and Sunday, April 15th at 6pm. Tickets are now available. The team has clinched home ice advantage for the first round of the ECHL Western Conference quarterfinals, and dates for games 3 through 7 will be announced when the opponent is determined.
As the standings show for now, Cincinnati is the most likely opponent for Fort Wayne, currently sitting in third place behind the Komets at 77 points on the season. Fourth and fifth place in the division are very close, as a single point separates Kalamazoo (72) from Kansas City (71), who the Komets beat in overtime last night 2-1 in Fort Wayne.
The Komets are 3-4 against Cincinnati this season.
The Komets have two home games remaining: Saturday, April 7th against the Wheeling Nailers at 7:30pm, and Sunday, April 8th against Cincinnati at 5pm.
