The Kosciusko County Health Department is reporting an increase of Hepatitis A cases.
Though the count for 2018 remains less than 5, that still exceeds what the county is used to. The Department says usually they see rates of one case or less per year.
The increase in the viral infection of the liver is not just being seen locally, but also on a state and national level.
The Kosciusko County Health Department recommends getting the vaccine because of the raise in Hepatitis A levels.
The vaccine is already required for the 2018-2019 school year for grades K-4, 6, and 12, but its recommended for all school-age children.
The vaccination is done through two shots that are given six months apart.
People with questions about vaccines should call the clinic at 574-267-7028.
