A former mailman with the United States Postal Service is accused of not delivering about 17,000 pieces of mail.
39-year-old Kristopher Block was charged Tuesday with official misconduct, which is a felony, and a misdemeanor count of theft.
The South Bend Tribune reports a Berrien County deputy allegedly found over half of the undelivered mail in a ravine near New Buffalo.
Court documents say the frozen bundles of mail were traced back to the U.S. Post Office branch in LaPorte and an investigation revealed that Block was responsible for delivering all of that mail. All of the pieces have been recovered, either from the ravine or pieces that Block allegedly had in his possession.
He reportedly admitted to the act as well, saying “looks like I’m going to jail.”
