The Leesburg Town Council met briefly Monday evening and discussed an update with its curbing project and potential ordinances.
Street Commissioner Brandon Queen said the concrete pad and curb work on Church Street is finished. He said Phend and Brown did 90 percent of the work after he white lined everywhere he wanted to have concrete and asphalt.
Queen also shared a quote for more curb work for Van Buren Street, but not over the tracks, and it will cost $9,800 per 306 feet. He said this covered the area between Ind. 15 and the alley, but not all the way to Jefferson Street. This entire project, including work all of the way to Jefferson Street, would cost roughly $40,000. The board tabled this decision and is looking to see if there are any grants available for the curb bids.
In other business, the board said the recycle bins will be delivered this week and placed down Ind. 15 and near Van Buren Street. The board said they have received some complaints from BB guns shooting out windows on Prairie Street, and they are reviewing town and county ordinances to resolve these issues. The board also is working to be more proactive against burning.
The board reminds the town to remove trash bins from the roadside once trash is picked up, and there is no parking on any street between 3 to 5 a.m. and there is no burning of anything at anytime.
The next regular board meeting is at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 10.
