A 17 year-old has been found guilty of murder in Elkhart County Circuit Court in the death of another teenager. Keenan Mardis was convicted, Tuesday, in connection with the fatal shooting of 16-year-old Ontario Brown Jr. last December, at Washington Gardens apartments. An eyewitness testified Mardis shot Brown after a short fight between Brown and Mardis' friend. The defense argued it would be easy for an eyewitness to mistakenly identify Mardis as the shooter because the shooting happened at night and Mardis was in a group with about four other people, according to testimony. However, no other eyewitnesses identified any other possible shooters. Mardis will be sentenced in mid-September.
