Final paving on railroad crossings at Main and Market streets in Warsaw were completed Monday and the streets will be open for Tuesday morning traffic, according to Mayor Joe Thallemer.
Many of the crossings involved in Norfolk Southern’s rail replacement project were opened after preliminary paving was completed and crews have revisited the sites to finish the job and make the crossings smoother.
The rail project is now pushing further north toward Leesburg and will be completed once it reaches Milford Junction.
Thallemer made the announcement at the start of the city council meeting Monday night.
Despite traffic tie-ups related to the railroad work early last week, Thallemer said he thought the massive project went about as well as could be expected and thanked Norfolk Southern for its cooperation.
The 23-mile project goes as far south as Claypool.
