Biomet reported Tuesday, fiscal second-quarter earnings of $89.8 million on net sales of $843.6 million, almost $85 million better than the $4.9 million the company earned during the same three months last year on net sales of $825.7 million. According to The Journal Gazette, an Almost $70 million decrease in special items accounts for much of the gain. Zimmer is in the process of a Biomet take over worth $13.35 billion. The deal is expected to close by March 31, pending approval from U.S., European and Japanese government.
