Some major upgrades proposed for the Potawatomi Zoo in South Bend look to become reality as The Indiana Economic Development Corporation has approved Regional Cities Initiative funding for the plans.
This project is the first phase of the Potawatomi Zoo’s $37 million plan to improve visitor experience and bolster its position as a community asset and regional attraction.
This first phase of the development will transform the existing entry into a 3,690-square-foot, state-of-the-art plaza, complete with a concierge-like guest experience and new gift shop.
The construction, which is set to be finished by spring 2020, will upgrade and streamline the entry process for zoo guests.
It will also add new amenities like an ADA-accessible pathway, new restrooms, vending areas and stroller and wheelchair rental space.
